If you are looking on this page you have had a claim where your clothing or household items were lost or ruined by a dry cleaner, laundry or similar business.  We are assisting the insurance company to calculate your settlement.  There are some important facts that you should know about this process.

The insurance that applies to your loss pays for your items on an actual cash value basis. That means that the insurance company will not necessarily pay for the full replacement of your clothing.  Clothing claims are similar to auto claims.  If a new car is ruined the insurance company generally provides a settlement that will allow one to buy a new car.  But If a three-year-old car is ruined, the insurance company often does not pay enough to purchase a new car.  The company pays for the equivalent value of a three-year-old car.  Clothing claims are adjusted in a similar manner.  New garments justify a settlement of the full purchase price and older garments generally justify lower settlements.

The most precise settlements are generated when you provide proof of the purchase date and price of the items that were lost.  If you do not provide this kind of proof the settlement may be limited by averages based upon the class of garment lost.   If you initially cannot locate your proof of purchase and you receive a settlement based upon limited information, but later on you are able to locate proof of the purchase date and price of some of your garments, please forward that information to us and we will request that the insurance company recalculate your settlement.
